The Halkon is the jacket we reach for on the coldest, wettest days in Eryri (Snowdonia) when we're exploring the countryside, looking for wild swimming spots and Birdwatching. Full Nikwax Analogy waterproofing, genuinely quiet fabric, and pockets that carry everything a birdwatcher, wildlife photographer, or winter hill walker needs without opening a bag. If you spend serious time outdoors in UK conditions, standing still in the rain as much as moving through it, this is the range worth knowing.
Three products, three distinct use cases. Here is how to choose between them.
Páramo Halkon Jacket
The original and most popular in the range. Full Nikwax Analogy waterproofing, nine pockets including two bellows pockets sized for binoculars or a field guide, quiet fabric in an olive colourway that sits naturally in most UK habitats. Warm enough for prolonged static use in cold conditions, breathable enough for a long ascent. The right choice for winter birdwatching, wildlife photography, hill walking, and fieldwork from October through to April. For every Halkon sold, Páramo plant a sapling through Trees for Life.
Páramo Halkon 360 Jacket
The most sustainable jacket in the range and a meaningful step forward. The 360 uses Páramo's new circularity process: chemical recycling that turns worn-out Analogy fabric back into new high-quality material without any loss in performance. The pump liner is made from recycled Páramo gear and textile waste. The result is 14 purpose-built pockets, upper-arm vents, and sleeves that roll up easily, all in a construction that is fully repairable and free from glued seams or taped linings. The choice for buyers who want the best of Páramo's sustainability credentials alongside full waterproof performance. For every Halkon 360 sold, Páramo plant a sapling through Trees for Life.
Páramo Halkon Traveller
A different proposition entirely, and worth being clear about: the Halkon Traveller is not a waterproof jacket. It is a lightweight, quick-drying jacket built from Nikwax Cotton+ fabric for use in warmer, drier conditions. Where the Halkon jacket is the answer to a wet November day in a coastal hide, the Traveller is what you wear on a warm June morning on the Llyn Peninsula when you want quiet, breathable fabric and 15 pockets without carrying a full waterproof. UPF 50+ sun protection and a dense weave that keeps biting insects at bay make it a genuinely capable piece of kit for summer wildlife watching and travel. If you are a year-round birdwatcher or wildlife photographer, there is a strong case for owning both.
